Deputy President - Patrik Peters |
The Deputy President of the Federation is responsible for
the supervision of work programs of all administrative
committees and the management of IFATCA at the
administrative level. This also includes the Federations
publications, foremost "The Controller" magazine; the
website and the office of the Federation in Montreal.
Mr.
Peters' specialities are team management and structure,
communication and print publications. As Vice-President of
IFATCA he is - amongst others - responsible for public
relations of the Federation. He is knowledgeable in the
field of Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM), where
he led several seminars and work-shops.
Mr.
Peters currently holds the position of team supervisor at
the EUROCONTROL Maastricht Upper Area Control Centre. He is
responsible for the management of an air traffic controller
team working air traffic in the upper airspace (above 24.500
feet) of Belgium and Luxembourg. Previously, as training
officer, he was responsible for the coordination of
ab-initio student and conversion controller training. He is
a fully qualified area radar controller, instructor and
examiner, holding licenses for the Belgian and Luxembourg
upper airspace.
Mr.
Peters started his aviation career in 1990 as student air
traffic controller in the EUROCONTROL Institute of Air
Navigation Services in Luxembourg (INSTILUX).
In parallel, Mr. Peters got increasingly involved with the
EUROCONTROL Guild of Air Traffic Services (EGATS). This
professional association, a member of IFATCA, strives to
improve safety and efficiency in air navigation in close
cooperation with its members and the EUROCONTROL agency.
Mr. Peters held - since 1995 - various positions on the
Executive Board. He was elected president of EGATS in 2001
and held this position until 2006, when he took office as
Executive Vice-President Europe for IFATCA.
He served two terms before being elected Vice-President
of IFATCA in 2010. He was re-elected for a 2 year term at
the recent annual conference in Amman/Jordan.
Mr. Peters is a German national and lives in
Aachen/Germany and in Nyköping/Sweden.
